Using Websites

Websites provide a wide range of information varying in quality. Websites are useful for locating current news, information from various organizations, and opinions concerning a wide variety of subjects. Unlike books and periodicals, websites are not reviewed by any outside source or publishing body and must be carefully reviewed to determine legitimacy.

Academy of Homiletics
The official website of the Academy of Homiletics provides an index to the journal Homiletics, information about the annual conference, and links to other websites. Membership is required to access some resources such as the archive of papers presented at previous conferences.
Sermons.com
Sermons.com is a paid membership site that provides numerous sermon resources including sermons, illustrations, children's sermons, lectionary helps, PowerPoints, and more. A few resources may be accessed for free.
Evangelical Homiletics Society
Provides information about the Evangelical Homiletics Society and their annual conference including an archive of presented papers from 2001 to the present.
Pastors.com
Sponsored by Saddleback Church, this site contains a wealth of information including sermons, an archive of The Minister's Toolbox, and reviews of suggested resources for all aspects of ministry
Preaching Today
Website affiliated with Christianity Today containing sermons, sermon outlines, illustrations, preaching helps and much more. A paid membership is required to access all resources.
Restoration Movement Sermons and Addresses
A treasure trove of resources about and by historic Restoration Movement figures.
Revised Common Lectionary
LCU professor Dr. Sutton recommends this site as useful for planning sermons and particularly for sermons related to the major church holidays.
Sermon Central
Provides free sermons, articles, illustrations, PowerPoint templates, videos, and more. Requires a paid membership to access all resources.
Sermon Illustrations
Sermon Illustrations offers free sermon illustrations arranged alphabetically by category. These illustrations are a sub-set of those available at eSermon.com.
Sermon Illustrator
A website comprised of sermon illustrations submitted by various authors and ministers. Illustrations are organized by topic. An email subscription is available in order to be alerted of new illustrations.

18,000 text sermons and 10,000 audio sermon downloads by great Christian leaders both historic and current.
Text This Week
This site contains preaching resources centered around the Revised Standard Lectionary. However, the site is searchable by scripture passage. Additional helps include an art and movie concordance and worship suggestions.
